The 8th International Festival of Love Plays «Meetings at the Theater»

VIII International Festival of Love Plays «Meetings at the Theater»
Since 2016, the theatrical festival has been held annually in the city of Ryazan at the venue of the State Autonomous Cultural Institution «Ryazan State Order of Honor Regional Drama Theater» with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Ryazan Region.
The festival involves theater groups from cities across Russia, CIS countries, and abroad.
The choice of the festival’s theme, «love,» is not accidental — the theme of love has always elicited genuine interest from humanity. Love unites people, and today it has special significance. The theme of love is one of the leading themes in world dramaturgy; it is multifaceted and profound. True love has an inexplicable power over a person; it makes them better and nobler, and real feats are performed for love. Love is a great and beautiful feeling that exists beyond time and boundaries.
Kozy Korpeş and Bayan Sulu
The Regional Russian Drama Theater named after Nikolai Pogodin.
The city of Petropavlovsk.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes, with one intermission.
The tragic poem about the love of the brave warrior Kozy and the beauty Bayan has inspired many poets, playwrights, ethnographers, and historians. The renowned Kazakh writer and playwright Gabit Musrepov created a play based on the poem «Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu» in the late 1930s. On the occasion of the writer’s 120th anniversary, the Pogodin Theater revisited this legendary material.
Directed by Baatr Kolaev, a distinguished figure in the arts of Kalmykia, the play emphasizes the idea that the light of two lovers’ hearts overcomes the darkness of death and does not fade in eternity.
