New Year’s performances for the youngest audience members have started at the N. Pogodin Regional Russian Drama Theater. The director and creative team prepared two magical plays for the children.
Timur Karimzhanov, director at the N. Pogodin Regional Russian Drama Theater:
For the New Year, we invite our audience to the fairy tale «The Golden Key» and the interlude «The Secret of Ded Moroz». «The Golden Key», «Buratino» — these are plays based on Anna Bogachyova’s works. This story is familiar to all of us from early childhood, so we and the actors treated this story warmly and carefully. We start our New Year campaign from the 25th to the 6th of January. And I hope we will cover the entire city.»
At first, the children danced around the festive Christmas tree in friendly circles. They followed the dance moves of the fairy-tale characters, played interactive games.
The New Year celebration wouldn’t be complete without the main guests — Ded Moroz (Father Frost) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden). Together with the children, they lit up the main symbol of the holiday — a beautiful and tall Christmas tree.
After the New Year’s morning performance in the theater hall, the premiere of the fairy tale «The Golden Key» took place. Buratino, Pierrot, Karabas Barabas, the Fox Alice, and the Cat Basilio. These characters are known and remembered by both adults and children from an early age.
Young actor Pavel Vilkov plays the role of Buratino in the New Year’s fairy tale. His character embodies childlike trust and carefreeness.
Pavel Vilkov, an actor at the N. Pogodin Regional Russian Drama Theater:
«He’s kind, very naive, believes in everyone. That’s why most of the characters in this fairy tale deceive him. For Buratino, this ends with something good and kind, and to find out how it all ends, you need to come and see.»
In children’s fairy tales, even negative characters deserve their own happy ending. They can teach children just as much as the main characters about good and important things.
Yaroslav Chumak, actor of the N. Pogodin Regional Russian Drama Theater:
«I play the role of Bazilio. He is a negative character, but one of those who clearly achieve their goals by any means necessary. And we show that not all methods are good. Perhaps we also show by our example with negative characters that not everyone who pretends to be good and caring actually pursues good goals, and this may not always bring you goodness.»
New Year performances are colorful and instructive. They bring magic to life and create a festive atmosphere. Fairy-tale characters teach young children to distinguish between good and evil, to show compassion, and to maintain a positive attitude.
