Shokan Ualikhanov — Theatrical Performance

Venue: N. Pogodin Regional Russian Drama Theatre
Director: Batyrbek Shambetov
Lighting Designer: Aleksey Melentyev
Music Direction: David Litvinov
The production explores the final days of Shokan Ualikhanov’s life, tragically cut short at the age of 29. Through images, monologues, and memories, the stage reveals an existence filled with events and inner searching. The feverish delirium of a gravely ill man becomes a guiding thread through his biography, leading the audience through significant episodes of his life — scientific expeditions, philosophical reflections, moments of insight and despair. Gradually, the image emerges not only of a researcher and enlightener, but of a deeply suffering individual burdened by unrealized aspirations. The performance is rich in philosophical subtext, raising questions about the meaning of life, human purpose, service to ideals, and the inevitability of the end.
